Moorings

Applications for moorings must be made to the club committee. Moorings are only available for full club members. All moorings and allocations are the decision of the Foreshore team. With the exception of outer trot moorings suitable mooring equipment must be provided and serviced by the member. A diagram and specification for mooring equipment can be found here.

Mud Moorings

These moorings are in the tidal area and dry out at low tide. They are generally accessible 2 hours either side of high tide. Mud moorings are only suitable for bildge keelers.

Low Water Mooring

These moorings dry out twice per year. Low water moorings are suitable for bildge keelers and motor boats up to 32ft. (9.75M)

Deep Water Moorings

These moorings are accessible at all states of the tide. They are suitable for keel, bildge and motor boats up to 32ft. (9.75M).

Outer Trot

The outer trot are deep water moorings for larger vessels up to a maximum of 34ft (10.36M) in length and all keel depths. The outer trot moorings are provided by the club and there is a one off non returnable joining fee of £250.

General Foreshore

The foreshore team look after the foreshore area and moorings. The team is made up of the Bosun and assistant bosun. Club members are expected to lay and service their own mooring with the assitance of the foreshore team. Mooring require a yearly inspection for which the member must be present. The fee for the annual inspection is £8.50.

Dinghies

All dinghies and tenders must have the owner or boat name and TYC on the stern. The dinghy places are allocated each year by draw. New members should seek the advice of the foreshore team before purchasing a dinghy to make sure it is suitable for the strong tides in the River Thames. Life jackets or bouyancy aid must be worn at all times when using your dinghy.

Hard Standing and Storage

Hard standing for winter storage is allocated by foreshore team. Generally larger vessels are lifted by crane and positioned on the river side hard standing, smaller boats are stored in the secure car park area. Winter standing is included in the annual mooring fee.

Lift in and Lift out

Each year the club hires a crane to lift large vessels in and out of the river. The cost of the crane is divided between all boats lifted which makes the price very econmical. The lift in date for 2009 was 10th and 11th of April and the lift out date is 31 October and 1st November start 7.30am. (Saturday HT 11.02 5.9M; Sunday HT 11.42 6.1M) All members especially those that are having their boat lifted are expected to help with the lifting on both days. Those helping will be allocated into a lift team and must wear helmets and hi vis jackets. The lifting allocation is the responsibility of the foreshore team and club officers. Members will be allocated a lift slot time and must be available at all times as conditions can change. The lift in and lift out are quite a social event too and members partners and friends are welcome in the evenings.

Diesel

Marine Diesel is supplied at a favourable price to club members only. Diesel is available by arrangement on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Launch & Recovery

Smaller boats can be lauched at recovered by the member with the permission of the foreshore team. If members require assistance an arrangement should be made for a suitable time with the foreshore team and the activity marked up on the foreshore blackboard.
